The Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (LA&PS) offers a range of awards, bursaries and scholarships to support students in their journey towards success. We want to make the process as easy as possible, so we’ve compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions to help you get started: 

What kinds of LA&PS awards are available?

There are over 300 awards available for all types of LA&PS students! Awards are given based on a wide range of factors, including financial need, community involvement, academic excellence, course work, international/domestic status and much more!

How do I apply for LA&PS awards?

Use our award search to determine what awards are applicable and follow the instructions. When you fill out your Student Financial Profile, be sure to check for and select your awards on the list.

When are the deadlines for student awards?

GPA-based awards are often adjudicated in the fall for the preceding year, so be sure to fill out your Student Financial Profile before the October 15th Otherwise, awards are available throughout the year, so familiarize yourself with the various awards opportunities open to LA&PS students at all levels of study. Keep an eye on your email for reminders and announcements!

If I don’t have financial need, do I need a Student Financial Profile?

Yes! The Student Financial Profile collects information on so much more than just finances! If you don’t demonstrate financial need, you won’t be penalized, but if you don’t fill out the profile, you may miss opportunities!

If I am receiving OSAP, am I eligible for awards?

Yes! Students receiving OSAP are still eligible and encouraged to apply to awards. Should you receive a monetary award, York University will report this scholarship to the Ministry on your behalf. Please note that changes in income may impact your OSAP entitlement.
