York Orientation Day: Sept 8, 2015
Orientation is the best way to start your academic career off on the right foot. You’ll learn a tremendous amount about the University within your first few weeks on campus. The critical first step is York Orientation Day.
Orientation is the campus-wide event when York welcomes all incoming students to campus for the start of the exciting journey to graduation. Your involvement in YU START over the summer has given you a first opportunity to learn about your academic program, about York University and the many opportunities and supports it offers.
You won’t want to miss this exciting day! First, you will meet key people who will be there for you during your time at York. For example, you will meet fellow incoming students from your academic program, as well as upper level students who will share their tips. You will meet professors and office staff from your program. You’ll learn more about the program and have a chance to ask questions and clarify points that may not yet seem clear.
Second, you’ll experience a warm welcome from York and become part of the York family. The University will welcome you officially on the first steps of your journey to graduation. Your hosts for Orientation will be the neighborhoods of York called “Colleges”.
You will have been introduced to your College in YU START, but you can always check the College with which your program is affiliated by clicking on college affiliation. The Colleges offer programming to support you academically as well as myriad opportunities for you to make friends and develop your leadership abilities as you become involved in social, cultural or athletic activities.
Come and learn more about your program, meet your professors and fellow students, become familiar with your College, explore the campus and mark the beginning of your time at York.
